How to install and configure Wordfence Premium< Before installing Wordfence Premium, follow the steps below to ensure all features work correctly.
- If Wordfence Premium is already installed, deactivate and remove it completely, including its database tables. If needed, export your current settings so they can be imported again after the new installation.
- Start by installing the free version of Wordfence from the official WordPress plugin repository.
- Once installed, click on “GET YOUR WORDPRESS LICENSE”. You will be redirected to the Wordfence website. From there, select “Get a Free License”. If a popup appears offering a paid firewall subscription, choose the option to wait for delayed protection. Then enter your email address and submit the form. The license key will be sent to your email.
- Copy the received license key and return to your WordPress dashboard. Click on “Install an existing license”, enter your email address, paste the license key, and activate it. A confirmation message should appear once the free license is successfully applied.
- Finally, go to Plugins → Add New and upload Wordfence Premium. If prompted with a message indicating the plugin is already installed, select “Replace current with uploaded” to complete the installation.
