The initial setup of Gravity Forms can be somewhat misleading.

When the plugin is activated, the first screen may prompt you to “activate” it. This step can be skipped—simply leave the fields empty and click Next.

On the following screen, you will be asked about background updates. Choose “Turn off background updates”, as this option only applies to updates provided directly by Gravity Forms via their own licensing system and is not related to Gpl WordPress. A warning message will appear—confirm your choice by selecting the checkbox and continue.

The final screen includes general configuration options that can be completed as preferred.

Once finished, click Next to complete the setup process.

NOTE: Make sure to download and install the our Gpl WordPress Update Manager  to keep your plugin updated.
